Sir, What shall be the treatment of pre-acquisition dividend received by the parent company from its subsidiary company

Replied byEditorial Board Saturday, September 07, 2019 at 03:04 PM

As per para 12 of Ind AS 27, Separate Financial Statements, a parent company shall recognise dividend from subsidiary as income in its separate statement of profit and loss when the right to receive the dividend is established. There is no relevance of whether the dividend is pre-acquisition or post-acquisition.

Under IFRS, earlier there was provision to reduce the pre-acquisition dividend from the cost of investments. But now, IFRS and Ind AS provisions are same.
